Dhanlakshmi Scheme

Diagram Dhanalakshmi In an attempt to reduce the number of female infanticides in the country, offer insurance and provide incentives for education, the government has launched the Dhalalakshmi program with the Indian Organization for the Development of Women and Children. Although the plan no longer exists because of more attractive regulations introduced by the government over the years, it has put many things into perspective: in relation to girls. The plan was approved by the government and presented by Renuka Chowdhury, then Minister of the Organization for the Development of Women and Children. In a short time it received more than 5,000 applicants in 11 backward states in India. The main objective of the plan was to reduce the number of cases of female infanticide, which continues to be alarming in most countries of the country. The plan also aims to end the child marriage by offering attractive insurance cover to parents and encouraging parents to raise their children and cover certain medical expenses for girls. The purpose of the plan was to value a girl's life and not treat her as a responsibility.

Admission criteria for the Dhalalakshmi program
The plan provided financial incentives for parents to help girls have a bright future. As with most systems, this system also had a funding criterion:

All girls born after 8 November 2008 were entitled to the plan.
All girls, regardless of their socio-economic status, were eligible.
All girls, despite the number of girls in the family, were eligible.
The girl had to be an Indian.
Advantages of the Dhalalakshmi program
The advantages of the Dhanalakshmi program were:
All girls born after 8 November 2008 and registered on schedule and under government received an initial cash incentive of 5,000 rupees.
For babies between 6 weeks and 24 months, a full-scale cash incentive was awarded at Rs. 1,250. This covered the costs that parents would have to pay to vaccinate their child in the backward states of India.
The plan included the cost of education for the girl, from admission to school to eighth grade. For the enrollment at the school, the parents received a financial incentive of Rs. 1,000. From grade 1 to grade 5, parents received a financial incentive of Rs 500 per year. For the girl's secondary education, parents were given a cash incentive of 750 rupees each year. A total of 5,750 rupees was given as a cash incentive for the education of girls up to the eighth standard.
To prevent child marriage, the plan provides parents with insurance coverage of Rs.1 lakh if the girl turns 18 and if the girl is not yet married.
The financial incentives were dependent on the girl's age. For example, if the girl is already in first grade, she is entitled to financial incentives for her education and not for vaccination and birth registration.
The program, which did not exist before, focused on strengthening the role of women in the backward countries of the country and, in a sense, focused on girls who underscore the value of their lives. More than 5,000 girls received the financial incentives this plan offered.

The scheme is applied only to those girls who have the address of the selected blocks
